Varanasi (UP) – The ‘All-India Muslim Personal Law Board’ has claimed that Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)’s report in the Gyanvapi case is not a conclusive proof. The Board’s spokesperson Dr Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas alleged before the media that by presenting such a report, the appellants have created a feeling of unrest and insecurity in the society.
Points presented by Dr Syed Ilyas :
Hindu communal organisations have been misleading people about the Gyanvapi for many years and its latest example is the ASI report. This report was prepared for their study, but by publishing it, the appellants have not only caused contempt of the Court but have also tried to mislead the ordinary citizens of this country.
A survey team of the Court Commissioner described the fountain in the water reservoir as ‘Shivalinga’ when the appellants tried to mislead people and create unrest. Still, no inquiry was conducted by experts in this matter nor did the Court give any decision.
In Babri’s case too, ASI claimed the existence of a grand temple below Babri, but ten renowned archaeologists examined the same and the claim was found to be wrong. From the things found during the excavation, our side pleaded in support of Babri, but Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench did not take our claim on the report into account. The Supreme Court had said that the things found during excavation were 400 years old before the construction of Babri; therefore, only time will tell what will be the Court’s decision on the present (Gyanvapi) report. (Hindus as well as Muslims know what the verdict will be, but Muslims are trying to show a brave face – Editor).
We believe, like in Babri’s case, this report too will be proven wrong subsequently. Sadly, our central institutions are dancing to the tune of communalists and have lost their importance.
The legal committee of the Board and our advocates will scrutinise this report and Gyanvapi’s Anjuman Masjid Committee will present our statement on the report in the Court.
We will try our best. Muslims need not lose hope but keep on praying. Seek forgiveness from Allah because he is the creator of all causes. We also appeal to the people of this country to refrain from creating an opinion on this report, till the Court gives its final verdict.
Editorial Perspective
Muslim party had made a similar claim in Babri case; however, the fact is that the Supreme Court passed the verdict in favour of Hindus, accepting the existence of a temple, based on the survey report of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). |
