Laxmanpuri/Lucknow (UP) – The Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered wholesalers and retailers to remove Halal products from their stock within 15 days after it banned Halal products and their certification. Also, 92 manufacturers selling goods with Halal certificate have been instructed to recall their products sold to the shops and sell them again after repackaging without mentioning Halal certificate.
So far 3,000 kg Halal products seized in Uttar Pradesh
The state’s Food Safety and Drug Administration has already sent samples of the Halal products to laboratories for testing for possible adulteration. Commissioner of this department, Anita Singh said that, so far 500 inspections have been conducted including raids at 92 locations in the state. An estimated 3,000 kg of Halal products worth Rs. 7-8 lakh have been seized through this. This includes sugar, oil and bakery products. Also, 81 samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing.
700 to 800 unauthorised organisations issuing Halal Certification across the country
About Halal Meat, Commissioner Anita Singh said that, only 3 organisations are authorised across the country to certify Halal meat and its related products. One of these is in Laxmanpuri. Currently, there are 700 to 800 organisations across the country, which are issuing Halal Certification. All these organisations have been banned in Uttar Pradesh.
