Iran demands to designate Israeli Army as a ‘terrorist organisation’

Iran’s proposal in an emergency meeting of leaders of the Arab countries

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) – The war between Israel and Hamas continues to intensify. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls for a ceasefire despite international pressure. In this situation, an emergency meeting of leaders of the Arab countries was held on 11th November in Riyadh. During the meeting, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi condemned the ongoing operation of the Israeli Army against Hamas in Gaza. He also demanded that the Israeli Army be designated as a ‘terrorist organisation’. Arab leaders fear that the conflict could spread to Arab countries.

1. Addressing the emergency meeting of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia holds Israeli authorities accountable for crimes against Palestinian citizens.

2. Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said while addressing the meeting, ‘It is a shame that Western countries, which speak about human rights and all, are silent on the genocide of the Palestinian people’. (Erdogan should first explain why Turkiye speaks in favour of Kashmiri Muslims despite witnessing gruesome atrocities against millions of Kashmiri Hindus ! – Editor)

3. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the United States has the greatest influence on Israel and hence it holds the biggest responsibility for the absence of a political solution to the conflict.

Arab countries warn to disrupt oil supply

Some countries, including Algeria and Lebanon, said that they could cut off oil supplies to Israel and its allies in view of the ongoing attacks in Gaza. Some Arab countries also proposed to break economic and political ties with Israel.

Editorial Perspective

It is no surprise that Iran, a country which supports the atrocities of Hamas, is proposing to designate the Israeli Army as a terrorist organisation.
