Obscene pictures of Hindu Deities being sold online

New Delhi – The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the Delhi Police and ordered them to take action in connection with the sale of obscene pictures of Hindu Deities online. Along with this, the Commission has also ordered the Police to submit the report of this action. Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal has asked the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police’s Cyber Crime Branch to submit a copy of the FIR in this regard by 1st November and has also sought information on who was arrested in this case. Maliwal has also asked to show cause in case no one has been arrested so far. A review has also been sought as to what is being done to remove these pictures from websites and stop them from being circulated.

The notice was issued to the Police after a person had complained to the Commission in this regard. Chairperson Swati Maliwal said that this is very offensive and is hurting religious sentiments. The perpetrators should be arrested immediately, and the pictures should be removed from the websites.

Officials of Delhi Police’s Special Branch said that we have received an email of complaint. We have contacted the complainant. We will record the complainant’s statement and register a case against the concerned. According to the information provided along with the email, an investigation has been started. We will also delete the offensive images from websites.
