Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) – Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a visit to Arunachal Pradesh. He performed ‘Shastra Puja’ on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra in Tawang. He also visited the war memorial at Tawang and paid tribute to the martyrs on this occasion. The Defence Minister analysed Chinese posts across the Bum La border in Arunachal Pradesh.

2. China has been claiming Arunachal Pradesh as its own part, while India has been constantly rejecting China’s claim.
3. Tawang is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama of Tibet. The Buddhist monastery of Tawang is also considered a holy place in Tibetan Buddhism. Due to these reasons, China wants to gain control over Tawang and enhance its influence over Tibet.
