Chennai– The ancient and famous Shri Kalikambal Temple is located at Parry’s Corner. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had also visited this temple to seek the blessings of the presiding Deity Kaalikambal. This temple is traditionally managed by the Vishwakarma community since ancient times, and it is a privately owned temple. The Tamil Nadu State Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (RACED) tried to take over this temple. It was, however, challenged in the Madras High Court which passed a verdict in favour of the temple, but RACED has now challenged the Court’s decision. Though the case is pending before the Court, RACED informed the temple that they are going there on the 3rd of October 2023 to take over charge of the Temple. Pro-Hindu organisations tried to protest by staging demonstrations, but Police took them into custody.
R D Prabhu of ‘Bharat Hindu Munnani’, a pro-Hindu nationalist organisation planned to stage demonstrations on the temple premises and about 50-60 devout Hindu activists gathered at the venue at about 11.00 a.m. Mr Jaykumar, Mrs Sugandhi Jaykumar, and H. H. (Mrs) Uma Ravichandran of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also reached there to participate in the demonstrations. The officers of RACED had discussions with the temple Trustees, and they didn’t allow devout Hindu activists to go into the temple. Later, the Police took the devout Hindu activists and Prabhu into custody.
Editorial Perspective
The DMK Government ruling Tamil Nadu is eager to eradicate Sanatan Dharma; therefore, it is expected that only such incidents shall occur. Hindus all over the country need to unite and lawfully oppose such Governments. |
