A chair is kept reserved for Kal Bhairav; Police Officer sits next to Him to work

Varanasi (UP) – The Court case of Gyanvapi has all the Indians’ attention on this ancient city, Varanasi. Baba Kal Bhairav is one of the forms of Kashi Vishwanath and he is called ‘Kotwal’ here. People have faith that Baba Kal Bhairav is in-charge of one of the Police Stations. For Him, a chair, table and a cap are kept reserved. The Administrative Officer of this Police Station sits on the chair next to it and performs his duties. Every day he begins his duty only after taking blessings from Baba Kal Bhairav. Local public believes that Kashi Vishwanath Himself had appointed Baba Kal Bhairav here.

Baji Rao Peshwa had built this Kal Bhairav Temple in Varanasi in the year 1715. Whenever a new Administrative Police Officer is appointed here, he must present himself in the Court of the Baba, only after that he takes charge of his office.
