Jalna (Maharashtra) – The repercussion of the Police lathi-charge on the agitators fasting for the Maratha reservation at Sarati in Antarvali taluka, were seen for the second day in the entire Maharashtra. Workers of the Maratha organisations in Maharashtra came out on the streets to protest through various means like blocking roads, protest marches and hitting with shoes. There is a call for a Bandh on the 4th of September at ‘Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’.
Agitation by the Maratha Kranti Morcha in Mumbai
On the 3rd of September, Maratha Kranti Morcha organised a protest march at Dadar Plaza in Mumbai. The agitators protested against the Government by wearing black armbands. There were a lot of slogans raised against the Government. The agitators demanded the resignation of Devendra Fadnavis, the Home Minister.
Satara District protest held by blocking roads.
A protest was held at the Powai Naka at Satara. In Karadh, the Maratha Morcha protested by blocking Roads. In the Library Chowk in Patan, Maratha Kranti Morcha held a protest march. At Phaltan’s Deccan Chowk Maratha Kranti Morcha’s Coordinator Mauli Sawant led the protests against the Government wearing black armbands.
Agitation continues for the second day in Kolhapur District
On the evening of 3rd September, a resolve to protest and oppose was made by lighting a torch at the Shri Maruti Temple in Kolhapur. In Radhanagar, under the leadership of Congress MLA Satej Patil a ‘Protest Meeting’ was organised on behalf of Gaganbavada Taluka Congress. Protest agitation was held at the Hupari Bus stand Chowk jointly by the Maratha Samaj and the Maratha Kranti Morcha. The workers wore black arm bands and shouted slogans against the Government.
Solapur protested by hitting with shoes and blocking the Highway.
The District Collector was given a petition by the Maratha Kranti Morcha saying that there would be a ‘Solapur Bandh’ if action was not taken against the culprits. Symbolic effigies of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were burned in Solapur city, Barshi, Mohol, and Karmala Taluka. Sambhaji Brigade blocked the National Highway at Kondi and disrupted the traffic in the afternoon. The Tahsildar of Karmala has been given a petition that there will be a protest morcha on the 6th of September. Posters of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister were burned in Kem. At Pande Chowk in Barshi, the agitators blocked the roads. The Maratha Samaj protested by burning tyres and sloganeering in the main square of Madha.
Protests against the Government in Ahilyanagar
The Udhav Babasaheb Thakre Party protested in front of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue in Ahilyanagar. Nationalist Congress Party’s MLA Sangram Jagtap led a morcha to give a petition to the District Officers. Sambhaji Brigade will protest in front of the District Collector’s office on the 4th of September, while the Maratha Mahasangh marched to and gave petitions to the District Officers of Akola, Karjat, and Jamkhed. 600 buses were stopped in the District.

19 buses were burnt which caused disruption to the Bus services causing difficulty to lakhs of passengers
About 19 ST buses have been burnt or vandalised in the past 2 days in Maharashtra. Because of this agitation, ST buses leaving many state depots have been cancelled. Resulting in hardship for lakhs of passengers. Private buses are taking advantage of this situation, they are looting the passengers by charging very high fares. (The government should take strict action against these people. – Editor)
As the effect of the Jalna incident has affected other districts in Marathwada, many Buses were stopped midway on their route. Because of this, the passengers who were travelling from Nagpur were stuck halfway.
