Prayagraj (UP) – ‘The system of live in relationship cannot be said to be a sign of health and social stability. The security and stability that marriage provides cannot be found in a live-in relationship. The system of changing partners after a few days is nothing but cruel. This is an attempt to systematically destroy the institution of marriage in India’, Allahabad High Court said while passing a verdict on a case. A woman in a live-in relationship has accused her partner of raping her.

When this case came in front of High Court for hearing, the Court made the above statement and granted bail to the accused.

High Court Justice Siddharth said that live-in relationship would be considered normal in this country only after the institution of marriage expires. This has happened in many developed countries. Protecting the institution of marriage is a big problem for those countries. This will create a big problem for us as well in the future. Cheating on one’s spouse or partner after marriage and in a live-in relationship has become a sign of a progressive society. (It should be noted that the Court has clarified what is being ‘progressive’ through its statement. – Editor)
