New Delhi – India has voiced its strong objection to China’s recent release of its new sovereign map depicting Aksai Chin and parts of Arunachal Pradesh as its own territory. External Affairs Minister S Jaishnkar pointed out that it wasn’t the first time China had come out with a similar move and it holds no meaning.

Wang Wenbin, a Chinese foreign ministry Spokesperson was quoted as saying “On August 28, the Ministry of natural resources of China released the 2023 edition of the standard map. It is a routine practice in China’s exercise of sovereignty in accordance with the law. We hope relevant sides can stay objective and calm, and refrain from over-interpreting the issue,” when asked about India’s protest.

Editorial Viewpoint

China should refrain from advising India what India should do or not do. This attitude of China highlights its inability to comprehend verbal communication alone.
