Sulibele Chakravarthy the founder of the Yuva Brigade
Mysuru (Karnataka) – During the freedom struggle we did not have freedom of expression. We could not write anything we wanted. If we wrote something not confirming to their ideology we would be sent to jail. But this is happening even today. Even though we had received prior permission to hold this event, later in the day some officials intervened and created difficulties in the event. During the programme commemorating Veer Savarkar on his 140th birth anniversary, Sulibele compared the Congress Government to Hitler’s regime. He said, “It hasn’t been a week since they came to power and they wanted to cancel this programme. If they are not ready to listen to others, what are they ? My friends, this is Hitler’s Government.” The above scathing remarks were made by Sulibele Chakravarthy the founder of the Yuva Brigade in Bengaluru. On behalf of the Savarkar Pratishtan, a programme ‘Veer Savarkar Samman Award’ function at the was recently organised at the auditorium of Karnataka State Open University at Mysuru. Sulibele was speaking at this event. However, there were many efforts to prevent this event from happening. Sulibele criticised the State Government over this situation.
Reacting to this criticism, Congress Minister MB Patil questioned whether Sulibele had done anything in the past 4 years. “Ask Sulibele, what has he done in the past. Sulibele, the disasters committed in the past by you and your ilk, like the Hijab, textbook row, halal and azaan, will be rectified. In case, you continue this, I want to tell you that you would spend time in jail,” he said.
