Pakistan releases 198 Indian fishermen

Fishermen had crossed India-Pakistan maritime border by mistake while fishing

Amritsar (Punjab) – Pakistan released 198 Indian fishermen from its custody on the night of 12th May via Attari border. These fishermen were arrested for crossing the India-Pakistan maritime border and entering Pakistani waters. The fishermen claimed they did so unknowingly while they were busy fishing in the deep sea.

Editorial Viewpoint

The Indian Government should facilitate identification of maritime international borders for the Indian fishermen. This would prevent unnecessary trouble experienced by the Indian fishermen due to crossing international maritime borders by mistake.
