New Delhi – ‘Whatever happened was not good we are sorry and we are very sad about it. We believe we should not hurt anyone`s feelings with our words or acts. Now that the damage is done, we apologise 100 times’, said Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani responding to the controversial statement made by his uncle Maulana Arshad Madani. On 12th February, at Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind’s 34th convention at Ramlila Maidan, in Delhi, the head of ‘Darul Deoband Uloom’ and leader of Jamiat, Maulana Arshad Madani stated that ‘Allah’ and ‘Om’ are one. Hearing this, Jain Muni Lokesh, who was present on the stage, protested against maulana and stepped down from the stage along with other religious saints.

Mahmood Madani further said that everyone has their opinion. Everyone has the freedom to express their views within a certain limit. Acharya Lokesh took advantage of this freedom. He had an opportunity to speak earlier on the stage and he again came forward and spoke. Many people had objected to his statement too. We respect Acharya ji, he is already connected with us. This is the beauty of our Country which you do not get to see anywhere else in the world except India, where people of different faiths, religions, languages, and people wearing a different kinds of clothing live together.
