BJP regains power in Gujarat, Congress secures a victory in Himachal Pradesh

Ahmedabad / Shimla  – The results of the votes for the State assembly elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are almost out. The ruling BJP has been defeated in Himachal Pradesh as the Congress managed to secure 40 out of the 68 seats. But in Gujarat, the BJP has secured a huge victory and retained power. As it managed to secure a whopping majority of 157 out of the 182 seats. This is the first time that the BJP has managed to secure such a huge number of seats.

1. But in Himachal Pradesh, the BJP managed to win a mere 25 seats, whereas the Aam Aadmi Party did not get even a single seat. Looking at the past trends in Himachal Pradesh it looks like the people vote for a new Government every 5 years, as earlier there was a Congress Government. The people had removed the Congress and put the BJP in power but now they have removed the BJP and put the Congress back in power

2. In Gujarat however, the Congress just managed to get 17 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party got 5 seats. The AAP has managed to open an account there. The AAP has taken the votes from Congress whereas the BJP has made significant gains in Gujarat.

Congress fears that the BJP may poach some of its MLAs

The Congress Chief Minister candidate for Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel said that the counting of votes is going on in Himachal. Since there is a possibility of the Congress Government coming to power there, we do not trust the BJP and hence we have decided to remain cautious and take care of our newly elected MLAs. Where they should be sent will be decided later.
