Decision taken by the Centre due to providing free of cost daily afternoon meals and books

Lucknow (UP) – The Centre has decided not to give scholarships to students in madarsas studying in the 1st to 8th standard. These students have been stopped from making applications for scholarships.

1. So far students in 1st to 5th were given scholarships of Rs. 1,000; whereas students in 6th to 8th were getting scholarships according to their syllabus.
2. As per the information given by the Centre, students in 1st to 8th in madarsas are given free education due to the implementation of the Act of Right to Education. They are also given afternoon meals and books free of cost. Besides these students are given other essential things also.
3. Henceforth, students in the 9th and 10th classes will be given scholarships. Their applications will only be scrutinised.
4. Around 5 lakhs students benefitted from scholarships last year. 16,558 madarsas had benefitted.
