The ‘Halal Show India’ called off due to intense opposition from Hindus

Mr Sunil Ghanwat

Mumbai – “The organisers of ‘Halal Show India’ declared that the show that was to be held in Mumbai for the promotion of Halal certified products has been called off because of intense opposition from devout Hindu organisations. This is a victory for the united Hindus who opposed the show in a legal manner. This is merely the beginning, our fight will continue till the very system of Halal certification is abolished”, said Mr Sunil Ghanwat (Coordinator of ‘Action Committee against Halal compulsion’). Mr Ghanwat thanked all the participating organisations and their activists for the success of the Committee, and expressed gratitude unto the Holy feet of God.

The ‘International Halal Show’, which was to be held at the Islam Gymkhana in Mumbai on 12-13 November, was organised by Blossom Media. Upon realising that the money earned through Halal certification is utilised for terrorist activities, the Action Committee against Halal compulsion organised intense agitations against the programme.

Action Committee against Halal compulsion staged agitations in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad and held meetings for the cancellation of the ‘Halal Show India’. The devout Hindus and patriots had warned that if the show is not cancelled, they will take to the streets and stage intense agitations. For cancellation of this show, a delegation of the Action Committee against Halal compulsion met the Joint Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangare Patil and Deputy Commissioner of Special Police Force Dr Shivaji Patil. During their meeting, they handed over a memorandum to the Police Commissioners in which they demanded that a thorough inquiry be made into the utilisation of the money earned through Halal Certification.

‘It has been revealed in countries such as the USA, Australia, France, etc. that the money earned through Halal Certification and the sale of Halal products is diverted to carrying out terrorist activities. Similarly, it has been revealed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Halal Trust (which issues Halal certificates in India) is giving legal assistance to the various accused of 26/11 Mumbai bomb blasts, the chain blasts in Zaveri bazar, bomb blast in Jama Masjid in Delhi, the German bakery bomb blast in Pune, the Malegaon bomb blast of 2006, Ahmedabad bomb blasts, etc. This also includes providing monetary assistance for legal cases against over 700 accused of various terrorist organisations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Indian Mujahidin, Islamic State. When there are organisations such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) of the Union Government and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the State Government, why do we need a separate Halal Certification body in the Hindu majority India ? Hence, the Police and the Government should not give permission for programmes organised to encourage Halal products’, Demanded Mr Sunil Ghanwat on behalf of the Action Committee against Halal compulsion.
