Iranian team did not sing the National Anthem before the match due to supporting the opposition to hijab

Doha (Qatar) – The world football tournament commenced on 20^th November. The tournament is held at International Stadium in England. The Iranian team did not sing the National Anthem before the match between England and Iran. When the National Anthem of Iran was being sung on the ground, Iran’s players were standing quietly.

They justified their action by saying that due to supporting the anti-hijab movement. In September 2022, a 22-year-old girl was arrested by Iranian Police for not wearing a hijab. She died in Police custody. The Iranian team did not sing the National Anthem to protest this incident.
