“Hindus and Sikhs were killed during the Partition of India. Hindu and Sikh women and girls were brutally treated, in a manner that cannot be expressed. Self-styled ‘intellectuals’ and ‘historians’ have so far lied that violence took place on both the sides. This is an injustice to the Hindus killed as well as a historical blunder”, said Advocate Satish Deshpande (A scholar of history & culture and author). He appealed that Hindus should learn the true history of Partition and introspect. He was speaking in an Special Online Discussion organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on the ‘Dark History of Partition of India’ on the occasion of 75th Year of Independence.
He added, “Muslim League’s declaration of ‘Direct Action Day’ led to the Partition. They incited riots, oppressed Hindus and usurped their lands. In the then West and East Bengal (now Bangladesh), the Hindu resistance led by Gopal Patha prevented riots incited by the Muslim League; but today’s generation does not know who Gopal Patha is, because the true history of atrocities faced by Hindus and the sacrifices of Hindus during the Partition of India have not been told so far. Brutal killings of Hindus, inhuman treatment of women took place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, which are now in Pakistan. Dead bodies of Hindus were sent in trains to Amritsar and other places in the country as ‘Azadi ka tohfa’ (Gift of freedom’)”.
Swatantryaveer Savarkar had warned in 1942 that the country would be partitioned. “The fact that Muslim leaders including Mohammad Ali Jinnah brought about the Partition is not being clearly stated”, Advocate Satish Deshpande said.
