No Gods are from upper castes, according to Manusmruti women are also Shudras

Anti-Hindu and racist statement of Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit (Vice-Chancellor of JNU) in Union Government sponsored lecture series

Shantishri Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice-Chancellor of the controversial (‘JNU’)

New Delhi – “Anthropologically, none of the Hindu Gods are from upper castes”, said Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice-Chancellor of the controversial Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), speaking at the Dr Ambedkar lecture series on 22nd August. This series was organised by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on the topic ‘Dr BR Ambedkar’s Thoughts on Gender Justice : Decoding the Uniform Civil Code’. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit was a professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Savitribai Phule, Pune University.

Pandit further said that,

1. All the other Hindu Deities, including Lakshmi, Shakti or even Jagannath do not seem to have come from higher castes. In fact, Deity Jagannath is tribal in origin. Most Hindu Gods are Kshatriyas.

2. Deity Shiva may be from Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe, because He is sitting in a cemetery with a snake. I don’t think Brahmans can sit in graveyards. This proves that anthropologically the Gods do not come from a higher castes. Then, why caste discrimination in society ? This is very inhumane. It is very important that we are rethinking Dr Ambedkar’s thoughts.

3. Manusmruti classifies all women as ‘Shudra’. So, no woman can call herself a Brahman or of any other caste.

4. Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. If so, why are people afraid of criticising it ?Pandit referred to a recent incident of a 9-year-old Dalit boy being beaten up by a teacher in Rajasthan. She said that the boy touched drinking water; hence, he was severely beaten up, and later, he died. This is very inhumane. How can one person treat another like this ? If the Indian society is to progress, castes must be eradicated. (It is laughable for a Vice Chancellor, who herself is a racist, to speak about the eradication of castes ! – Editor)

Editorial viewpoints

  • From this it is proved that the Vice-Chancellor of JNU has not even studied Hindu Dharma and Scriptures ! The ‘wisdom’ of people who humanise the Deities is so pathetic.
  • Since the Vice-Chancellor of JNU herself is anti-Hindu, most students are also staunchly anti-Hindu and have anti-national tendencies !
  • It is shameful for the Government agencies that they have not been able to close down such anti-National and anti-Hindu Universities as yet.
  • Realise that this Vice-Chancellor, who slanders Hindus and their Deities, never dares to speak about the places of worship of other religions.
  • The Union Government should immediately dismiss such anti-Hindu and casteist Vice-Chancellors and initiate strict action against them.
