Siddaramaiah further said: “I was opposing Savarkar’s placards. Savarkar had apologised to the British. (Goebbels Policy of Congress ! – Editor) Devout Hindus call him ‘Veer Savarkar’. I have no personal enmity with Savarkar but his conduct was not good. BJP tried to put Savarkar’s picture in the Muslim-majority area of Shivmogga. Muslims are also allowed to place pictures. But why do they (BJP) go to Muslim areas and do this ? Why oppose the picture of Tipu Sultan ? (Tipu Sultan converted lakhs of Hindus, killed innumerable Hindus, and raped countless Hindu women. This is why he is opposed ! It can be seen that Congress is rooting for him as if Congress is a descendent of Tipu – Editor)
Opposition from devout Hindus and BJP
Following Siddaramaiah’s above statements, protests were launched against him by devout Hindu organisations and BJP workers. In Kodagu, eggs were thrown at his four-wheeler, and black flags were shown to him.
