New Delhi – General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Maulana (Islamic scholar) Hakimuddin Qasmi has condemned the beheading of Kanhaiyalal by Muslims in Udaipur. Qasmi said that those who have committed this act cannot be justified. This act is against the law of the land and our religion. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. Qasmi has appealed to all citizens to keep calm and maintain law and order in the country.

Section 144 has been imposed for one month in Rajasthan

Rajasthan’s Chief Secretary has imposed a state-wide curfew under Section 144 and ordered a 24-hour internet shutdown in Udaipur. A special investigation team has also been set up to probe into Kanhaiyalal’s murder.

Strict action will be taken against the culprits – Chief Minister Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot

Two accused in the murder have been arrested, said Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. I condemn this incident, Gehlot said. Strict action will be taken against the culprits. The Police should go to the root of the incident. Gehlot also appealed to the people to maintain peace.

Editorial viewpoint

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in the year 2019, after the Supreme Court’s verdict in favour of Hindus in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi case of Ayodhya, said ‘Today is the darkest day in the history of Independent India’. Therefore, what’s wrong if someone says that condemning the Udaipur incident by such an anti-Hindu organisation is superficial  ?
