New Delhi – Tesla Company’s Founder and Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted saying that the Company will not manufacture its 4-wheelers locally unless it is allowed to sell the company’s cars. Before permitting Tesla cars, India has laid down a condition stating that ‘Tesla can sell in India only those electric cars which are manufactured in India’. Tesla wanted to examine the status of the Indian market by selling Chinese-made cars here.

Tesla wanted concession for electric cars imported in India before it commenced the company here; as that would have enabled Tesla to ascertain the demand for the cars in India; now the condition will not allow Tesla to do that.
