How can a civilised society survive if shrines are constructed in the middle of public roads ?

Delhi High Court reprimands AAP Government in Delhi

New Delhi – While hearing a Public Interest Litigation, the Delhi High Court expressed displeasure over illegally constructed shrines on public roads in Bhajanpura and Hassanpur depot areas. The Court also issued notices to the Delhi Government and other departments, asking will the civilised society survive if you have such structures in the middle of the road ?

Petitioner SD Windlesh stated that the encroachments were blocking traffic and creating problems for individuals. He demanded that it should promptly be removed following Supreme Court orders. (Why does such a demand has to be made ? Were the Government and Administration asleep while such illegal constructions were being made ? Even after demanding why no action has been taken upon it ? Strict action should be taken against those responsible. – Editor) A petition seeking action against the constructors is pending in the Supreme Court.

How can the Government remain silent ? – Delhi High Court

We do not understand why the Government is silent on this matter, the Court remarked. And how can such illegal things be allowed to happen ? In our opinion, the State Government should have a clear, definite and firm policy regarding such cases. The message that such encroachment will not be tolerated should be conveyed to the encroachers. The encroachment should be removed immediately. Encroachers should also be punished.

Editorial Viewpoint

The public expects the Court to take action against those who give consent for such constructions and should be stern with the Government.
