Religious fanatics attack the Shriram Navami procession at Joda (Odisha)

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) – Religious fanatics attacked a Shriram Navami procession in Joda, a town in the Keonjhar District of Odisha. Hence, a curfew has been imposed in the area.

This year also, the Hindus wanted to organise the yearly procession on the occasion of Shriram Navami.   However, the Police refused to permit it. The Police allowed only 5 persons to march with the flag. Carrying a Hindu saffron flag while the procession reached Shiva Temple in Ward No. 4, religious fanatics blocked their way and argued with the Hindus. They attacked Hindus with stones and glass bottles. Some people got injured. The religious fanatics hurled stones at the Police also, who had reached the spot. Later, shops in the area were vandalised and two-wheelers and four-wheelers were set on fire. The Police tried to control the situation by firing in the air. The situation came under control after four hours of violence.
