Shillong (Meghalaya) – A special Court of Meghalaya sentenced life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 8 Lakh to Nurul Islam (sacked Police Inspector) in the case of raping two minor sisters. Nurul was already suspended from the Police department. This rape case happened back in 2013. Nurul first raped a 13-year-old in a Police station and later raped her 17 years old sister at a gunpoint. He threatened the sisters with an arrest in a fake case if they complained about it.
1. Nurul was arrested upon an FIR lodgment by the father of the girls. The Police station faced protests after the news broke out. Nurul escaped while being transferred from a Police station to another place before being arrested again.
