Tripura High Court orders Agartala Municipal Corporation
Agartala (Tripura) – Tripura HC has ordered the Agartala Municipal Corporation to ban the sale of meat products in the open in public places. The Court has also ordered the State Government to formulate an all-inclusive policy regarding slaughterhouses.
In the order, the Court directed not to compromise on cleanliness at the licensed meat selling place. Until the location for selling meat and slaughterhouse is finalised, the Municipal Corporation should provide separate space for meat selling. Strict action is to be taken for violating this order.

The Court has also ordered the Pollution Control Board for cleanliness. The Court has asked to set up sewage treatment plants to clean the water of the drains so that the polluted water will not flow into the rivers.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav told the Court that on 21st February, the tender has been floated for the construction of the slaughterhouse. Within the next 18 months, cattle slaughterhouses will be built. 139 people have been given licenses to sell meat.
