Lawyers who demean the Court in this manner should be severely punished by the Court ! |

Chennai – Madras High Court has registered a case of contempt of Court against Advocate R D Santhan Krishnan. Advocate Santhan was seen engaged in obscenity with a woman during a video conferencing trial. Video of this incident was circulated on social media. As a result, the Court has registered the case. The lawyer has been barred from practice by the Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Bar Councils.
The Court said that it cannot remain a mute spectator when such vulgarity is taking place publicly during the Court hearing. Therefore, the Court took note of this and ordered an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department.

Some of the inappropriate actions of advocates during the online hearing
Earlier too, there have been some inappropriate actions by lawyers during the Court’s online hearing. Advocate Sridhar Bhatt was seen half-naked during an online hearing of the Karnataka High Court. Even after making him realise, he remained in the same position for 20 minutes. Advocate Rajiv Dhawan was seen smoking a hookkah (a form of tobacco use) during a Rajasthan High Court hearing. In June 2021, Advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi attended the online hearing without wearing pants.
