Bollywood film with a Muslim name given to the villain will fuel hatred against Islam in India : Cries Pak President

The story of the film is based on terrorists coming to India from Pakistan

Editorial comment

  • These are the usual tantrums of Pakistan President. In India, however, the minorities form the majority in crimes. Terrorism has been going on for the past 3 decades in India and is worldwide known as ‘Islamic terrorism’. Why is the President of Pakistan throwing tantrums when the names of such terrorists are shown in the film ?

Mumbai – Recently released movie Sooryavanshi is facing trouble from some people who are objecting the name of the villain character in the movie being a Muslim name.

Pakistan President Arif Alvi and Actress Mehwish Hayat also objected on this. President Alvi said, this will promote islamophobia in India, and he further mentioned, sensible people of India will handle such things in a right way. The story of the film is based on terrorists coming to India from Pakistan.

Actress Mehwish Hayat tweeted saying this movie is promoting islamophobia. This trend started from Hollywood.  If we cannot show Muslim characters positive, then at least we can do justice to them.

If the villain of my film was a Hindu character, would these questions still be raised ? – Director Rohit Shetty

When Rohit Shetty was asked about this earlier, he had said that if the villain of my movie was a Hindu character, would these questions still be raised ? In 3 of my movies, the villains were Hindus and no one objected. If a terrorist from Pakistan comes to our country, what would we name him, what would be his religion ? The story of the film is about our Police officers catching a terrorist from Pakistan.
