Mumbai – Recently released movie Sooryavanshi is facing trouble from some people who are objecting the name of the villain character in the movie being a Muslim name.
Pakistan President Arif Alvi and Actress Mehwish Hayat also objected on this. President Alvi said, this will promote islamophobia in India, and he further mentioned, sensible people of India will handle such things in a right way. The story of the film is based on terrorists coming to India from Pakistan.
Hindu Tej Jago !
Portraying Muslims as villains in the movie – “Sooryavanshi” will foster hatred towards Muslims!
– Dr Arif Alvi, President of #PakistanMr President, first stop Jihadi terrorism and then worry about the perception that a movie may create.#ThursdayThoughts pic.twitter.com/0Lk97DB4LA

Actress Mehwish Hayat tweeted saying this movie is promoting islamophobia. This trend started from Hollywood. If we cannot show Muslim characters positive, then at least we can do justice to them.
If the villain of my film was a Hindu character, would these questions still be raised ? – Director Rohit Shetty
When the Quint journalist asked why Sooryavanshi has bad Muslims, Rohit Shetty pointed out there were Hindu villains in his previous movieshttps://t.co/LBp6SqWHtB

When Rohit Shetty was asked about this earlier, he had said that if the villain of my movie was a Hindu character, would these questions still be raised ? In 3 of my movies, the villains were Hindus and no one objected. If a terrorist from Pakistan comes to our country, what would we name him, what would be his religion ? The story of the film is about our Police officers catching a terrorist from Pakistan.
