New Delhi – Chief of the Haqqani Network, which is part of the Afghanistan’s Taliban Government, Anas Haqqani on 5th October visited the shrine of Mahmud Ghaznavi, who attacked the iconic Somnath Temple in Gujarat in the 10th Century, and praised the conqueror as a ‘renowned Muslim warrior and mujaheed (religious warrior)’.

Haqqani also shared pictures of him and other armed Taliban fighters visiting the tomb and paying their respects. Anas Haqqani bowed at Mahmud Ghaznavi’s grave and then tweeted a photo of the place. ‘Ghaznavi established a strong Muslim rule in the region from Ghazni & smashed the Idol of Somnath’, tweeted Haqqani. The Turkic ruler raided the Somnath Temple in Gujarat in 1026 AD.
A few days ago, Anas Haqqani had said that India is not a true friend of Afghanistan.
