‘Do not allow Brahmins in your village’ : Says the arrested father of Chhattisgarh CM

Editorial comment

  • Such hatred is the reason that casteism has not yet been eliminated from India. It is necessary to first discard the vindictive mentality to eliminate casteism.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – I appeal to all natives from villages of India that they should not allow brahmins to enter their villages. I will talk to even other communities about it so that we can boycott brahmins. Brahmins need to be sent back to the banks of the Volga River. The above statement was recently made by Nandkumar Baghel, the father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. (The Volga River in Russia is known to be the biggest river in Europe) A case has been filed against him and he has been arrested by the local Police. He has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody by the Court. Baghel had made this statement in a programme held in Uttar Pradesh.

Though he is my father, he is not above law ! – CM Bhupesh Baghel

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that law is supreme in this country and nobody is above law. My father is 86 years old and has made such comments against a certain community. He has disturbed communal harmony and his statement saddens me. Our political thinking and faiths are different. As a son, I respect my father; but I cannot forgive him for such a mistake. It can adversely affect the law and order situation in the State.
