Decision to change the thousand years tradition

New Delhi – On the backdrop of rising covid-19 cases now Parsis have decided to cremate the dead bodies. The authorities of the Parsi Panchayat have announced this decision to avoid covid-19 infection through the dead bodies. Traditionally the dead bodies are exposed to the vultures in an open place. There is a tradition of disposing the dead bodies in a well in Mumbai. Fire is considered holy by Parsis. The population of Parsis amounts to around 1 lakh across the country. In the last month, 40 Parsis died in Surat due to covid-19.
