“Offer coconut to Balaji, and everything will be alright!” – Gajendra Shekhawat

Union Minister criticised for this advice

  • Pseudo-secular people are not aware of the importance of faith. So naturally they will criticise. They need to keep in mind that crores of Hindus in the country are still having tremendous faith in God. This faith itself is helping India to sail through various difficulties in the present times and it will also help in the future !
  • In the present adverse times, it is essential that such appeals should be made to the public. But it is also expected that the Union Minister should try to make the health system more efficient !

New Delhi – Union Minister Gajendrasingh Shekhawat is being criticised for advising the relatives of a Covid affected patient at a hospital in Jodhpur that they should offer a coconut to Balaji, and everything will be alright.

Justifying his advice, Shekhawat said, “The doctors are doing their work. What is wrong in advising that one should have faith in Balaji and offer coconut ? There are crores of people who are devotees of Balaji, not only in Rajasthan, but all over the country and the world. If I advise them to offer coconut, how can I be deemed to be inactive and irresponsible ? Is it wrong to offer psychological support to relatives of patients who are admitted in hospitals ? I tried to offer support to the patient’s mother who was scared to ensure that she has peace of mind and also I reassured her that along with medicines, prayers will also help. I do not have any apprehensions with regard to the treatment being provided by the doctors as they are performing their duty in an extremely appropriate manner”.
