The Central Government should not waste time in issuing summons. Rather, the Government should immediately ban this web series and establish a Censor Board to control such web series !

Lucknow (U.P.) – An FIR has been lodged here against the makers of web series ”Tandav” for allegedly depicting Hindu Gods in a manner hurting the religious sentiments of the people. The FIR against the producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, director of the series Ali Abbas, writer Gaurav Solanki, and Aparna Purohit, the head of Amazon’s India head of original content, has been lodged at Hazratganj Kotwali Police Station. A similar case has already been registered in Mumbai on an earlier occasion.

BJP MP Manoj Kotak had written to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking a ban on Amazon Prime Video”s series ”Tandav” for ridiculing Hindu Deities. He also demanded that a Censor Board be established to regulate OTT platforms. Taking immediate note of Kotak’s letter, the Ministry has issued summons to the Indian authorities of Amazon Prime Video to explain regarding hurting the religious sentiments and ridicule of Hindu Deities.
