Ban ‘Tandav’ web series for denigrating Hindu deities!

BJP MPs to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Prakash Javadekar

  • In an Islamic nation, the person mocking Prophet Muhammad or Quran through films, plays or on social media is punished by death. In western countries, mocking the Christ or Bible results into severe punishment. On the contrary, in a Hindu-majority but ‘secular’ India, anybody vandalises idols of Hindu Gods, burns sacred Hindu literature, mocks and denigrates the Hindu Gods through web series, movies, plays or ads; and the vast majority of Hindus unfortunately don’t care about it. This is a result of lack of Dharmashikshan among the tolerant Hindus!
  • The BJP is in power at the centre. So Hindus expect the BJP leaders to not just seek a ban, but to get it shut down!

New Delhi – A newly released web series, ‘Tandav’ on Amazon’s OTT platform ‘Prime Video’ with actor Saif Ali Khan in a lead role, is facing a severe backlash due to derogatory represenation of Lord Shiv and Lord Ram. BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Narendra Kumar Chawla, Gaurav Goyal, MP Yogi Balak Nath, MP Manoj Kotak and several others have urged the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar (I&B Ministry) to ban ‘Tandav’. The calls for ban are widely seen on social media as well, with hashtags #BanTandavNow and #BoycottBollywood trending on Twitter. Over 1,65,000 tweets have been posted where people have expressed their distaste for the web series. ‘Tandav’ is produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar. The web series has 9 episodes and features Saif Ali Khan, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Dimple Kapadia and Sunil Grover.

Boycott Tandav! – MLA Ram Kadam, BJP

BJP MLA Ram Kadam has urged the people to boycott ‘Tandav’ until requisite changes are made in the web series.

Ram Kadam has tweeted that, “Why is it becoming a trend amongst films and web series makers to demean Hindu gods? Latest culprit seems to be the series #Tandav. #SaifAliKhan again part of a film or series which attempts to target Hindu deities. Director Ali Abbas Zafar needs to remove that scene which mocks Hindu God Shiva. Actor Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub needs to apologise and Tandav should be boycotted until necessary changes are made. #BoycottTandav”

Anti-Hindu content is repeatedly broadcast through web series! – BJP MP Manoj Kotak

Since the central government is ruled by BJP, Hindus expect Kotak to demand a ban on such web series and press for a law to bring such content under control.

MP Manoj Kotak said that, ‘Web series show anti-Hindu content over and over again. Hindu deities are mocked repeatedly, due to which, hurting Hindu sentiments. Such content should be banned with immediate effect.’
