The Police decision came after a number of complaints from Hindu organisations.
Not only in Kanpur, such incidents are taking place in other parts of the country too. Hence, the Central Government should constitute a Special Investigation Team on par with CBI. A special law should also be passed to curb such incidents in future.
Kanpur (UP) – Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of 8 members to investigate the recent incidents of ‘Love Jihad’ here. Representatives of some Hindu organisations met the Director General of Police Mohit Agarwal. They explained the principle behind ‘Love Jihad’. The team has identified 12 incidents of ‘Love Jihad’ so far.
Most of these incidents had taken place in and around Kanpur’s Juhi area. Is there a role of Muslim organisations in these incidents ? Whether the conspiracy of ‘Love Jihad’ has been funded by these organisations ? An inquiry is in progress keeping in view these questions. The Special Investigation Team has contacted the local Police stations and sought a report on the ‘Love Jihad’ incidents which had been reported over the past 2 years.
