It is shameful for the Governments which have ruled so far that they have not been able to prevent farmer suicides in India in general and Maharashtra in particular ! This situation highlights the necessity of the ‘Hindu Rashtra (Nation)’ !
New Delhi – According to the report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in 2019, Maharashtra and Karnataka were led in farmer suicides in the country. During this period, these States were ruled by the BJP-led coalition Governments.
The report also stated that these apart from the average number of suicides in other States was less. There was not a single case of suicide in Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Delhi, Bihar, Manipur, Bengal, Odisha, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
In 2019, 3,927 farmers and agricultural labour resorted to the extreme step of suicide. Compared to 2018 (3,594), more suicides were reported in 2019.
