On the occasion of ‘Shivarajyabhishek Day’, a special ‘Online’ interaction on ‘Hindavi Swarajya to Hindu Rashtra (Nation)’

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a ‘Sovereign Emperor’ in the true sense : History scholar Uday Mahurkar

“Historians do not take cognizance of the extent of ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ established by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. After his death, the Maratha army became the backbone of the Delhi kingdom within a short span of 40 years. In comparison, the kingdom of Mughals who ruled in Delhi after they came from Afghanistan was very small. Yet, Mughal kings are called ‘Emperors’, ‘Badshah’, while Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s bravery is unfortunately restricted to Maharashtra only. If the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is studied, we will learn that he was a great Indian persona in almost a thousand years. Therefore, Shivaji Maharaj was not only ‘Chhatrapati’, but a ‘Sovereign Emperor’ in the true sense”, said Mr. Uday Mahurkar, an heir of Mahurkar royal family, a history scholar and writer about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in such glorifying words.

He was speaking at a special ‘Online’ interaction on ‘Hindavi Swarajya to Hindu Rashtra (Nation)’ organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on 4th June on the occasion of ‘Shivarajyabhishek Day’.

In this interaction, Dr. Sachchidanand Shevade (A well-known writer and speaker) spoke on ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ and Mr. Ramesh Shinde (National Spokesperson of HJS) spoke on ‘Hindu Rashtra (Nation) from the perspective of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’. At the outset, Sadguru Nandkumar Jadhav (Dharmaprasarak of Sanatan Sanstha) garlanded a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The programme, was telecast live on Facebook and YouTube and was viewed by 60,000 people and reached another 65,000.

‘Swarajya’ of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not ‘Sarvadharmasamabhavi’, but ‘Hindavi’ ! : Dr. Sachchidanand Shevade

“Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj generated pride for Dharma among the people who were persecuted by the Mughals, and protected Dharma. He did not attack anyone with a sword to propagate Hindu Dharma. Is it because of this that his rule was labelled Sarvadharmasamabhavi with the assumption that a Hindu’s kingdom would definitely be all-encompassing ? Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj created the royal signet in Sanskrut language. His coronation ceremony was held in Vedic manner. However, the Hindu-proponents of Sarvadharmasamabhav are unfortunately trying to erase its identity of ‘Hindavi Swarajya”, said Dr. Sachchidanand Shevade.

‘Hindavi Swarajya’ of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ itself ! :  Mr. Ramesh Shinde

“A region which has borders is called a ‘country’; whereas, the concept of Rashtra (Nation), also includes history, language, culture, a measure of time, etc. of that region. In that sense, the ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ established by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ itself. He prepared a Government gazette from which he removed Farsi words. He purified the converted Hindus and took them back into Hindu Dharma. He issued orders to build temples.

A collection of correspondence during the reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is famous. Even this collection has a reference to the ‘Hindu Rashtra (Nation)’. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar said during a speech in the Parliament that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fought for the freedom of Hindus. The word ‘secularism’ originated in the 19th Century. Then, under what pretext can you attribute it to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who ruled in the 17th Century ?”, asked Mr. Ramesh Shinde. In the end, Mr. Ramesh Shinde appealed to the Hindus to awaken their pride and spare at least 1 hour daily for the ‘Hindu Rashtra (Nation)’.
