Stop monetary assistance to Aurangzeb’s tomb and provide additional assistance to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s temple : HJS demands

Lakhs of rupees for Aurangzeb’s tomb, but only Rs 250 for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s temple

Sunil Ghanwat, HJS

Mumbai – The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Union Government is giving lakhs of rupees every year for the maintenance of Aurangzeb’s tomb. According to the available information, a whopping Rs 2,55,016 was spent in the year 2021-22, and Rs 2,00,626 in the year 2022-23 (till November). Thus, a fund worth Rs 6,50,000 has been spent so far; however, on the other hand, a meager fund of only Rs 250 was provided by the State Government for the temple of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj located at Sindhudurg Fort in Malvan, which is a symbol of Maharashtra’s glorious history. This is outrageous and the temple of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who dedicated his life to preserving Hindu Dharma and the culture of Maharashtra, is not being provided with proper funds by the Government.

On the contrary, a huge fund is being provided for the maintenance of the tomb of a tyrant invader like Aurangzeb. Is it right to spend this much on Aurangzeb, who committed inhuman atrocities on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj? State organizer of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Sunil Ghanwat, has demanded that this assistance be stopped immediately, and sufficient financial assistance be announced for the temple of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Government should immediately look into this and preserve the identity of Maharashtra.

Editorial Perspective

Why nationalist and pro-Hindu organizations have to make such a demand ? The Government is expected to take this action voluntarily.
