
Bhusawal (Maharashtra) – In an outrageous incident that has recently unfolded in Bhusawal, Maharashtra, the Police arrested accused Nabil Kasam Shaikh in the early hours of 17th May in a case involving the forcible religious conversion and Nikah (Islamic marriage) of a Hindu girl. The accused reportedly threatened to circulate victim’s images captured unknowingly of her at a cafe on social media and also threatened to kill her family. The Court has remanded him to judicial custody.
1. The victim girl lived with her grandparents in Bhusawal while pursuing her education. Nabil allegedly befriended her when she was studying in Class 10.
2. On one occasion, Nabil took her to an unknown room where a Maulana (Islamic scholar) was present. When the girl resisted, she and her family were threatened with death.
3. The Maulana forcibly made her recite the “Kalma” (Islamic declaration glorifying Allah) and conducted her Nikah. After Nikah, Nabil confined her in a room for 8 days. During this period, immense pressure was put on her to wear a burqa and offer Namaz. When she refused, she was subjected to inhuman physical assault. The girl somehow managed to escape and subsequently lodged a complaint with the Police.
