He later fled the country using a fake passport
(Nikah means marriage as per Islamic law)

Lashkar terrorist Umar Haris, alias ‘Khargosh’, infiltrated and came to India in 2012.
Jaipur (Rajasthan) – A Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist, Umar Haris alias “Khargosh,” reportedly changed his identity and married in Jaipur under false pretences. He prepared fake documents for the marriage and used them to obtain an Indian passport, after which he fled the country. It is suspected that he may have taken shelter in Saudi Arabia. This came to light during an investigation into an international terrorist module (a group formed to plan and execute terrorist activities).
Investigations revealed that while infiltrating North Kashmir, Umar Haris had stayed at various locations in Bandipora and Srinagar. In Jaipur, he married a woman under the false name “Sajjad.” Using the marriage documents, he secured an Indian passport. According to investigative agencies, he had infiltrated Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan in 2012. He managed to evade security forces for a long time and established a network in the region. Due to his agility and frequent movement between locations, he was given the nickname “Khargosh” (rabbit).
Network spread across multiple states
Srinagar Police shared information about Umar Haris with central intelligence agencies. They also revealed that a Lashkar-e-Toiba module had been busted and five suspects were arrested, including Pakistani terrorists Abdullah alias Abu Huraira and Usman alias Khubaib. Abdullah had been absconding for 16 years. During interrogation, he provided details about his own and Umar Haris’s operations across the country, particularly in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.
Serious lapses in document verification exposed
The disclosure of this international terrorist module by the Srinagar Police has highlighted glaring lapses. Questions are being raised about how a passport was issued in Rajasthan despite an existing police verification process.
