Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): An incident has come to light in the jurisdiction of the Loni Border Police Station, where the driver of a woman Food inspector was allegedly assaulted while the team was inspecting a meat shop.

What exactly has happened ?

Food inspector Meera Singh has made the following allegations:

1. A complaint received on the Chief Minister’s public grievance portal was forwarded to the department. It mentioned illegal meat sales and suspected cow slaughter in the areas of Loni Canal Road and Maulana Azad Colony. The team had arrived to investigate this complaint.

2. As the team stepped out of their vehicle and approached the shops, several shopkeepers began shutting their establishments and fleeing. During verification, a person named Raju Qasai; against whom the complaint was filed; also attempted to shut his shop and escape. At that moment, a group of people surrounded the team. They allegedly tried to snatch documents from the driver and physically assaulted him.

3. It has been alleged that the incident occurred at the instigation of a woman named Sabina, along with provocation from an individual named Bilal. The attack was reportedly aimed at preventing any action against the accused. The inspector stated that only documents were snatched from her, and confirmed that the shops in question do not have any valid licenses issued by the department.

Nand Kishor Gurjar

Responding to the incident, BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar stated that certain individuals are running illegal meat shops and are allegedly involved in unlawful activities related to cattle slaughter.

He added that the woman officer had to take shelter inside a house to protect herself, while her driver was assaulted by the mob. He further questioned how such establishments continue to operate without proper municipal licenses.

The MLA asserted that attacks on officials and women will not be tolerated and warned of strict action against those responsible.
