Trump claims, “Iran deal just moments away”

Announces he may visit Pakistan for the deal

Washington (US) –“We are in the final stages of concluding an agreement with Iran regarding a ceasefire. There is a strong possibility that the deal will be finalised. If the agreement with Iran is finalised, I will visit Pakistan,”US President Donald Trump said. After the first round of talks in Pakistan failed, there is now a possibility of concrete steps toward ending the war in the second round.

Trump said, “if the deal is reached, oil supplies will resume, the Strait of Hormuz (a narrow natural waterway connecting two large water bodies such as seas or oceans) will reopen, and the situation will return to normal.”

Iranian media has dismissed Trump’s claims, saying that the US President is “building castles in the air.”

Trump praises Pakistan

Trump said that Pakistan’s Field Marshal (Asim Munir) is very good, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister (Shehbaz Sharif) is also very good. Therefore, he may visit Pakistan.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance had visited Pakistan for talks. After the first round of discussions in Islamabad failed, he returned to the US empty-handed. Even after that, discussions between the two countries continued regarding Iran’s nuclear program and the proposed sanctions on it. Talks are also ongoing to prevent further escalation of tensions, including decisions regarding Iran’s uranium stockpiles.

Iran will hand over its uranium stockpile to the US – Trump claims

Trump added that Iran has agreed on key points, including its nuclear program. We wanted to ensure that Iran never develops nuclear weapons, and it has agreed to almost all conditions. He also claimed that Iran would hand over its uranium stockpile to the US. The US believes that such material could be used to make nuclear bombs.

What is uranium ?

Uranium is a substance that can be used to produce both nuclear energy and nuclear bombs. Natural uranium contains only a very small usable portion, so it is refined using machines called centrifuges. This process is known as uranium enrichment.

Iran has about 5 to 6 tons of enriched uranium, but it is not enriched enough to make a nuclear bomb. Currently, around 120 to130 kg of uranium in Iran has been enriched up to 60%. If this enrichment reaches 90%, it can be used to make nuclear weapons. Therefore, the US and Israel are pressurising Iran to limit its nuclear program and hand over enriched uranium.

Iran’s allegation

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said on social media that while some countries possess nuclear weapons, war is being waged against Iran under the pretext of its peaceful nuclear program.

Iran still has thousands of missiles – US

Despite US attacks, Iran still possesses thousands of missiles and drones, posing a threat to the US and its allies in the region, said James Adams, head of a US defence intelligence agency. He added that although US and Israeli strikes have significantly damaged Iran’s military capability, about half of its missile launchers still remain, along with many missiles and drones.

10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon – Trump announces

On 16 April, Trump announced that a 10-day ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Lebanon. Direct talks between the two countries were held in Washington for the first time in decades. Trump said the decision was taken after productive discussions with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun.

Conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah has been ongoing in Lebanon for over a month.
