Trump orders blockade on Hormuz after talks fail

New Delhi – After talks on a ceasefire with Iran failed, the United States has announced the start of a blockade of Iranian ports. The blockade will apply to vessels of all countries entering or leaving Iran’s ports and coastal areas. It includes all Iranian ports in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman. However, it has been clarified that US forces will not interfere with the freedom of navigation of ships using the Strait of Hormuz to travel between ports of countries other than Iran.

Following the failure of talks, US President Donald Trump warned, “The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will take effect immediately. I have directed the US Navy – the best in the world – to locate and stop any vessel that has paid any charges to Iran in international waters. Such vessels will not be given safe passage. This process will begin with immediate effect. The objective of this blockade is to prevent Iran from selling oil.”

Iran will never have nuclear weapons – Donald Trump

“I do not care whether Iran returns to the negotiating table or not. Even if it does not, it makes no difference to me. During ceasefire talks held in Islamabad under the leadership of Vice President JD Vance, Iran indicated its intent to acquire nuclear weapons. It still wants them and made that clear recently; however, Iran will never have nuclear weapons,” Trump asserted.

US blockade will fail – Iran

Iran warned against the US naval blockade, stating that it would fail and that the United States would face defeat. Just as the US has not succeeded against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, it will fail again, Iran said. The Iranian military will not allow such actions. Iran also stated that it has multiple response options that have not yet been used and cannot be cornered by hypothetical plans.

We will not bow to any threat – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf

Iran’s Parliament Speaker warned Trump, saying: “If you choose the path of war, we will respond in the same manner. If you act wisely, we will engage in dialogue accordingly. We will not bow to any threat. Let them test our resolve again, and we will teach them a proper lesson.”

A path to agreement is possible – Masoud Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that if the US abandons its harsh and pressure-based approach and respects the rights of the Iranian people, a path toward an agreement can certainly emerge.

Threat to the Bab al-Mandeb Strait

Following the US decision, Iranian state media warned that the Bab al-Mandeb Strait could also become a target. There is concern that Houthi rebels in Yemen may increase pressure along this route. The strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is critically important for trade between Europe, Asia, and West Asia. Large volumes of oil, gas, and container traffic pass through this route. Any instability here would force the use of alternative routes, increasing costs and insurance premiums.
