America should not fall into Netanyahu’s trap : Iran

Iran’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Abbas Araghchi

New Delhi – Ahead of peace talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a strong warning to the US. He said the US should not act foolishly by falling prey to the conspiracies of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Iran has taken this aggressive stance in the backdrop of ongoing intense Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Araghchi said in a post on X, ‘Netanyahu’s criminal trial resumes on Sunday. A region-wide ceasefire, including in Lebanon, would hasten his jailing. If the US wishes to crater its economy by letting Netanyahu kill diplomacy, that would ultimately be its choice. We think that would be dumb but are prepared for it.’

Iran will act responsibly if the US honours its commitments – Iran

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held phone discussions with the foreign ministers of Russia, France, Spain, and Germany. During talks with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, he stated that if the US fulfills its promises, Iran will act responsibly. Under the ceasefire agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will remain open and safe for maritime traffic for two weeks.

Hormuz will be opened, with or without Iran’s help: Trump

President of the United States, Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump once again issued a stern warning to Iran. He stated that with or without Iran’s cooperation, oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz will soon be restored. He also warned that during the ceasefire period, Iran should not impose any tolls on ships passing through Hormuz, calling such actions unacceptable and not part of the agreement.

Talks will be held with Lebanon: Netanyahu

Netanyahu

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that instructions have been given to initiate direct talks with Lebanon. This step comes amid rising tensions between the two countries. Meanwhile, according to Israeli media reports, the country’s defence minister has made it clear that the war will not be stopped.

Iran to charge $1 per barrel toll on ships passing through Hormuz

Iran is now demanding a transit fee of $1 (₹95) per barrel from oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Interestingly, to avoid sanctions and surveillance, these payments are reportedly being made in cryptocurrency.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Iran’s crypto sector has grown rapidly and is now valued at approximately $7.8 billion (₹7.41 billion). More than half of these transactions are carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated groups, which use the funds to finance trade, weapons, and other purchases. Iran’s central bank has also acquired cryptocurrency worth $570 million (₹5,415 Crore).

This indicates that Iran is adopting new methods to bypass international sanctions, which could have an impact on global trade and oil markets.

Israel is a cancerous state; Pakistan’s Defence Minister’s statement

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif

(Post deleted after criticism from Israel)

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated in a post on X, ‘Israel is evil and a curse for humanity, while peace talks are underway in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon. Innocent citizens are being killed by Israel, first Gaza, then Iran and now Lebanon, bloodletting continues unabated. I hope and pray people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to get rid of European jews burn in hell.’ Israel strongly reacted to this statement. The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the remarks amounted to a call for Israel’s annihilation and were unacceptable, especially from a country claiming to mediate peace talks.

Following Israel’s sharp response, international pressure on Pakistan is likely to increase. In an attempt to maintain its image as a “responsible peace mediator,” Pakistan promptly deleted the controversial post.

Earlier, Israel’s Ambassador to India Reuven Azar had also stated that while the US may have reasons to work with Pakistan, Israel does not consider it a credible country.

Punjab Assembly proposes Nobel Prize to Pakistan’s PM and Army Chief

A proposal has been introduced in Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly to nominate Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for the Nobel Peace Prize. The proposal, presented by MLA Rana Muhammad Arshad, claims that the mediation efforts of Pakistan’s leadership made the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran possible, paving the way for peace and stability in the region.

Trump had also stated that the ceasefire decision was taken following a request from Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir. Iran had confirmed this as well.

India should also levy tolls on ships passing through the Andaman Sea! – Economist Ajay Bagga

Economist Ajay Bagga

Economist Ajay Bagga advised that if Iran imposes tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, India should also start charging tolls on ships passing through the South Andaman Sea. He warned that if Iran is allowed to collect such tolls, it could set a dangerous global precedent. Following that, Singapore might charge tolls in the Strait of Malacca and Turkey at the Bosphorus. In this context, he suggested that India should deploy its navy south of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and begin charging all ships passing through these waters.

Where is this location?

The area near the Andamans mentioned by Ajay Bagga is close to Indira Point on Great Nicobar Island, which is the southernmost point of India. On the opposite side lies Sabang in Indonesia. The stretch is only about 145 km long and serves as a crucial maritime route for goods transported from other parts of the world to Southeast Asia and China.
