BJP office vandalised allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers

Kolkata – Ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections, a BJP party office in the city was vandalised, leading to tensions between supporters of rival political parties.

1. The incident reportedly took place in the Behala area, where supporters of Trinamool Congress candidate Ratna Chattopadhyay allegedly damaged a BJP office in her presence. When BJP supporters protested, clashes broke out between members of the 2 groups.

2. According to BJP representatives, Trinamool Congress workers forcibly entered the party office, vandalised property, and damaged the entrance gate.

Allegations and counter-complaints

BJP candidate Indranil Khan alleged that the vandalism was carried out by Trinamool Congress workers out of fear of defeat in the Behala West constituency. He further claimed that Ratna Chattopadhyay and her supporters damaged the office in the presence of police personnel, who allegedly failed to intervene.
Following the incident, Indranil Khan, along with his supporters, filed a complaint at the Parnasree Police Station. Meanwhile, Ratna Chattopadhyay also lodged a counter-complaint. Supporters from both parties gathered at the police station and staged protests, prompting police intervention to restore order. Additional police deployment has since been arranged in the area to maintain law and order.
