Entry of male vendors into ladies’ compartments on Panvel–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus route !

Panvel–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus route incident

Mumbai – Male vendors are frequently entering first-class ladies’ compartments in local trains running between Panvel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus under the pretext of selling cosmetics. This information was given by a woman passenger to a representative of Sanatan Prabhat. This has become a routine occurrence, while the Railway Police are ignoring it. When the passenger asked the name of one such vendor who had entered the compartment, it was learnt that he was a Muslim. Women passengers were purchasing goods from these vendors.

Railway Police continue to ignore despite previous incident !

On 18 December 2025, in a local train travelling from Panvel to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a 50-year-old Muslim man named Shaikh Akhtar had entered the ladies’ compartment and pushed an 18-year-old college girl out of the moving train. Women passengers say that even after such a serious incident, the Railway Police are not preventing male vendors from entering ladies’ compartments, and if this continues, the possibility of another such incident in the future cannot be ruled out.

Editorial Perspective

Failure to immediately remove such individuals and action against them is a serious mistake on the part of the Railway administration. Action should also be taken against those responsible in this matter.
