Dhanbad (Jharkhand) – A Ram Navami procession faced stones pelting by fanatic Muslims here; but instead of taking action against the Muslims, the Police misbehaved with the Hindu organizers of the procession. The Police took the organizers into custody, tied them up with ropes and paraded them around the market. National Human Rights Commission Chairman Priyank Kanungo has taken serious note of the incident and sent a notice to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jharkhand.
The Commission has termed the practice of tying Hindus with ropes and making them walk around the market as a violation of human rights. The Commission has ordered a detailed report on the matter to be submitted within 7 days.

1. In Bhikhrajpur village in Baliapur area of Dhanbad, fanatic Muslims pelted stones at a Ram Navami procession. Many Hindu devotees were injured in this stone-pelting.
2. The Police reached the spot and took some people from both the groups into custody; however, the matter has become serious only because of the mistreatment of Hindus.
3. According to footage circulated on social media, the Police tied up social activist Shatrughan Mahato and other organizers of the procession and openly paraded them through the market.
4. Shashank Raj, the District President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, strongly objected to this and filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. ‘The Police are completely biased. While the stone-pelting was done by a Muslim group, the organizers of the procession were made to walk on the streets like criminals,’ Shashank Raj has alleged in his complaint.
5. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of anger in the area and there is a demand for action to be taken against the concerned Police officers.
