Protests against US and Israel after Eid prayers in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh)

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – On 21 March, Eid al-Fitr was celebrated across the country. In Bhopal, Shia Muslims observed a ‘Black Eid’ at Fatehgarh Imambara and protested against the alleged attacks on Iran by United States and Israel. After offering prayers, slogans were raised against the US and Israel. People attended wearing simple clothes and black bands tied to their arms, creating a sombre atmosphere. A photograph of Ali Khamenei was displayed at the venue. Maulana Razi-ul-Hasan urged those present to “stand against oppression.”

Black bands worn during Eid prayers in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan, Muslims in several districts, including Jaipur, Sikar, and Ajmer, offered Eid prayers while wearing black bands. Black flags were hoisted on mosques. Traditionally, Eid is celebrated by wearing new clothes; however, on this occasion, Shia Muslims refrained from doing so as a mark of protest against the US and Israel. Even traditional festive foods such as kheer and sheer khurma were not prepared in homes.

At the Jama Masjid in Subhash Chowk, Jaipur, black flags were displayed. Tight security arrangements were put in place across the city. Police teams conducted surveillance using drones, and flag marches were carried out at multiple locations to maintain law and order.
