Khamenei’s posters displayed in Belagavi : Shriram Sena strongly protests

Belagavi (Karnataka) – Shriram Sena staged demonstrations to protest the display of banners supporting Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei in the city. Led by the national president, Mr Pramod Mutalik, activists condemned Khamenei supporters at Ashok Circle and Kolhapur Circle. To counter Khamenei’s posters, they displayed banners featuring Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and India’s Prime Minister Modi. They also displayed an image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj slaying Afzal Khan to express their anger.

Belagavi City Police had requested that no banners be put up in the city; however, ignoring the police’s appeal, Khamenei supporters displayed posters of Khamenei, and Shriram Sena activists demonstrated their support for the Prime Ministers of Israel and India. Slogans of ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ and ‘Jai Shriram’ reverberated across the area.

Editorial Perspective

Is Belagavi in India or in Pakistan for Khamenei’s posters to be displayed? Naturally, in Karnataka, a State ruled by the Congress, where another Pakistan seems to exist, such events are hardly surprising.
