Manchar (Dist Pune) – There is a historical well dating back to the period of the Pandavas. There are rock inscriptions, a carved cow’s face, and engraved work at this site, confirming that it belongs to Hindus. Still, an unauthorised dargah was built here, and the place was declared to belong to the Waqf. No action was taken despite repeated complaints lodged with the Pune District Collector, and Pune Gramin Police. In fact, the unauthorised construction has expanded. As per the observations by the regional officers six months ago, there was a vacant land, and now, there is the work carried out as a burial ground. Moreover, a tomb has been shown of a person who died in 2021. The burial ground that didn’t exist  six months ago, has a grave of a person, who died in 2021. BJP MP Professor Dr. (Mrs) Medha Kulkarni, along with the local devout Hindu organisations, went to the site and condemned the local administration for such a serious lapse by staging demonstrations. Many activists of RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Bajarang Dal along with devout Hindu activists viz. Mr Pramod Bankhele, Sandip Bankhele, Ganesh Bankhele Akshay Chikhale, Mahesh Pingale, Chaitanya Mahajan, etc., participated in the demonstrations.

Deputy Regional Police Officer has promised to discuss the matter with the Pune Gramin Police, the Superintendent of Pune Gramin Police and regional officers and take action within eight days. It was, however, warned to  intensify the agitations if action is not taken.

Suppression by Police and insult of Hindus’ faith

During the agitations, MP Kulkarni tried to display a picture of a Deity on behalf of Hindus, but the Police snatched the picture from her hand.  MP Kulkarni has raised a question that if those people (Muslims) are allowed to construct a dargah and paint it in green colour, then why was she being stopped from writing Om and displaying a Deity’s picture?

Hindus are tolerant but don’t try their patience

MP Kulkarni warned the administration that Hindus never disturb law and order or grab anyone’s land; but fanatics pelting stones at immersion processions of Ganapati or encroachments on Hindus’ heritage places will not be tolerated. Hindu is not aggressive but don’t try his patience.

Editorial Perspectives

  • This is nothing but a form of ‘Land Jihad’. The aggressive stand taken by MP Prof Dr (Mrs) Medha Kulkari for the well-being of the Pandava era barav at Manchar against the conspiracy of  ‘Land Jihad’ is commendable.
  • What was the administration doing till this unauthorised dargah was erected? Hindus should wake up at least now and unite to crush the conspiracy of ‘Land Jihad’ by fanatics.
